“Peri-implant Diseases are chronic inflammatory diseases of”
“infectious cause, which if untreated may lead to bone loss around a functional implant and eventually to de-osseointegration and implant loss. In the last decade with an increasing population wear- ing implant supported restorations during more years the incidence of these disease has risen, probably at the same rate as the inter- est to understand their pathogenesis, as well as their diagnosis and predictable therapy. In this lecture I shall tray to review the current knowledge on the incidence and pathogenesis of Periodontitis, as well as the most predictable therapeutic interventions to arrest the disease and in specific situations to also try to reconstruct the peri-implant lesion. Examples of the different surgical interventions and reconstructive therapeutic concepts will be provided.”
