Implantatbehandlinger er forbundet med komplikationer, mekaniske såvel som biologiske.

Op mod 1/5 del af de patienter, som får implantatbehandling vil udvikle periimplantitis. Da dette er en almindelig komplikation, er det nødvendigt med retningslinjer for, hvordan man sikrer en korrekt behandling.

I en travl hverdag på klinikken kan behandling af komplikationer ved implantatbehandling være udfordrende – både fagligt og tidsmæssigt.

• Hvor længe har implantatet været i funktion, og hvad er afgørende for den videre prognose?
• Hvilket implantatsystem er brugt? Hvilken skruetrækker skal bruges til abutment skruen, hvor meget skal den torques osv.
• Har udformningen samt placeringen af implantatet og suprastrukturen indflydelse på behandlingen af komplikationen?
