CBCT – its justified use in oral health care

CBCT – its justified use in oral health care

Imaging remains one of the most important dental diagnostic tool. Since the introduction of the first dental CBCT in the nineties, the market has been exponentially growing. This has created a gap between scientific research and clinical implementation. CBCT currently finds applications in all dental specialties. In implant surgery, the use of CBCT is evidenced, not only to explore planned implant sites, yet also to evaluate periodontal prognosis of neighboring teeth. Furthermore, CBCT indications are not solely limited to diagnostics, yet also linked to the potential to allow full integrated planning. The latter may involve CBCT, digital impressions, facial scanning and surgical guides and eventually lead to the virtual patient concept. This may surely enhance predictability and efficiency of the outcome, while any derived 3D modelling and printing may further serve the actual treatment. To enable this, one should work towards developing optimized patient-specific and indication-oriented imaging protocols.

Evidens kontra praksis.

Five Years Experience with Customized Allogenic Bone Blocks

Spanning over the whole spectrum of modern augmentation techniques, Dr. Blume will give insights into the different concepts and ways of bone regeneration and augmentation.

Bone grafting in strongly atrophic alveolar ridges often involves harvesting of the patient‘s own bone tissue, despite being a clinically complex, risky and time-consuming procedure. Dr. Blume will distinguish why CAD/CAM blocks have so many advantages and therefore good outcome and prognosis. During the lecture he will share his clinical cases and long-term experiences using CAD/CAM bone blocks. Furthermore possible indications for these Custom Blocks are illustrated.
